Recently,
a friend of mine and I have started a club at UF—Club Will To Live. Starting
the club was a long process as we had to make it a continuation of the
foundation started in Georgia with our own twist. We decided to have the club
based around spreading positivity throughout the campus through projects. These
projects include bringing out a big chalk board and letting people interact
with our topic of the day or handing out our bracelets. Mainly just talking and
interacting with people on campus to maybe impact their day positively. In our
meeting we educate our members on mental health and make them aware of signs
that they may see in themselves, friends, family and even peers.
The
process was even longer when we decided to present the club to the school and
get it approved. There was plenty of trial and error. We went back and forth
many times with the Activities and Involvement team at UF. The drive to create
this community on campus had us up at all hours of the night trying to get the
club running. We still are struggling after two semesters to keep members and
bring more members into our club. As of August
2017, we were an official club.
I
enrolled in ENT3003 to learn more about entrepreneurship as I feel it will be
beneficial in helping me open my own business one day. I hope to think
differently and more logically about entrepreneurship after this class.
Hayley, I really enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story. Honestly, I had no idea that the Club Will To Live was even a thing. It is so inspiring to hear about a club that is based around spreading positivity throughout the University of Florida’s campus. What an amazing idea and congrats on getting your club official. I couldn’t imagine all of the hard work you put into creating this club. I would love to hear more about it! I wish you the best of luck. Great post!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post and the message you are trying to send. Too often, we are extremely stressed or going through special circumstances that we lose sight of our purpose, and all the things that are worth living for. I have been thinking about opening a Tea and Candle shop in an attempt to spread positivity through scents and soothing tastes, but that is still under construction. I hope your club continues to grow. We need more positivity in our lives these days!
